The Chilean South African Chamber of Industry and Commerce was founded in 1980 in order to facilitate economic relations between the two countries. The Chamber is a non-profi t organization and, as a private institution, is free to attend exclusively to The Economy / La Econamía the members and their needs. With very few exceptions and only when justifi ed as beneficial to members does the Chamber act in favor of any commercial purpose of a third party. Among many services available to members, the Chamber facilitates communication (in English and Spanish) between members and/or potential foreign investors, updates members with relevant information pertaining to Chile and South Africa, and appears before official organizations on behalf of members when needed to address obstacles companies encounter in bilateral trade. Members can also enjoy preferential treatment and/or reduced rates for events organized by the Chamber and for other services and institutions with which the Chamber has agreements, such as certifi ed interpreters, hotel accommodations, the South African Embassy in Chile, the Chilean Embassy in South Africa, and more than 200 other chambers and business organizations. The Chamber is currently focused on advocating for an agreement between the two countries which will allow a regular bilateral fl ow of goods, services, and investment, stimulate growth in Chilean exports and secure regularity of imports from South Africa, while protecting investors by avoiding double taxation and eliminating barriers to trade.
La Cámara Chilena Sudafricana de Industria y Comercio es una Asociación Gremial sin fi nes de lucro, fundada en Santiago el 1980 con el objetivo de consolidar las relaciones económicas entre ambos países. No siendo una institución pública, debe atender exclusivamente a sus socios; solo excepcional y justificadamente, puede hacerlo en favor de los intereses comerciales de terceras personas naturales o jurídicas. Entre la gama de servicios disponible, la Cámara entrega en español e inglés a Socios y/o posibles inversionistas extranjeros en Chile, información relevante sobre la República de Sudáfrica y Chile, e interviene ante organismos ofi ciales y privados para solucionar trabas o problemas que se les presenten a los Socios, en el flujo del comercio bilateral. Los Socios cuentan con tratamiento preferencial y/o tarifas rebajadas en todos los eventos que organiza la Cámara y también, descuentos por otros servicio e instituciones con las cuales la Cámara mantiene convenios, por ejemplo intérpretes de presencia, hoteles, la Embajada de la República de Sudáfrica en Chile, la Embajada de Chile en Sudáfrica, y más de 200 otros cámaras de comercio y organizaciones sudafricanas. En la actualidad la Cámara tiene el firme propósito de lograr un acuerdo económico entre ambos países, el cual que permita un flujo regular binacional de bienes, servicios e inversiones, estimulando las crecientes exportaciones chilenas y procurando normalizar la disparidad de las importaciones desde Sudáfrica, enfatizando la protección de las inversiones, evitando doble tributación y eliminando las barreras arancelarias.
