Established for over 27 years, Sportfisher is a favourite with many international anglers. The company began as a oneboat show by Benoit Marrier d’Unienville and has been moulded over the years by his love for the sea, for people, and for his boats which he builds himself, into the respected and efficient organisation that it is today. For an angler, little can compare to the thrill of the chase to get the adrenalin pumping. The roar of the inboard Caterpillar engines, and the scream of tightly stretched line when a marlin or other game fish has struck the kona, is a pulse-racing experience.

Au fil des années, son amour pour la mer, pour les personnes, et pour ses bateaux qu’il construit lui-même, a abouti a l’organisation respectée et efficace qu’elle est aujourd’hui. Pour un pêcheur, rien n’est comparable à l’émotion que procure une touche. Le grondement des Caterpillar, et le crissement de la ligne tendue quand un marlin ou autres poissons frappe le leurre, cette poussée d’adrénaline est une expérience extraordinaire. Remember, fishing is not so much about how many fish you can catch in the shortest space of time, but more about the experience of fishing itself. Anglers will be adequately equipped with all the usual necessary tackle, gear and equipment when game fishing on any of the boats in our fleet. However, should an angler wish to bring along his own lucky favourite rods and reels, harnesses, lures or whatever other items, this is more than welcome. We usually troll for game fish using konas and other artificial lures. If it is known that fish are biting on live bait on any particular day, the skipper may then fish for a bonito, hook it up and look for marlin, shark or other billfish. Flexibility to prevailing fishing conditions in the region is very much part of the skippers’ daily routine.

Rappelez-vous, l’important n’est pas uniquement le nombre de poissons que vous pouvez prendre en une journée, mais plutôt l’expérience qu’une sortie en mer vous procure. Les pêcheurs seront bien équipés avec tous les équipements nécessaires lors d’une sortie sur l’un de nos bateaux. Toutefois, si un pêcheur souhaite apporter ses propres cannes et moulinets favoris, harnais, leurres ou tout autre article, il est le bienvenu. Nous avons l’habitude de pêcher en utilisant des Konas et autres leurres artificiels, mais il peut arriver que le skipper change de technique, il peut alors pêcher une bonite, la monter et filler dans le but de crocher un marlin, requin ou autres poisson a rostre. La flexibilité dans les différentes techniques de pêche est de vigueur dans la région et fait partie de la routine des skippers.

Sportfisher itself is situated in the north of the island, in the heart of a very popular and much-frequented village called Grand Baie. Our offices border the seaward side of a shopping mall known as Sunset Boulevard, and we are adjacent to the much-loved Sunset Cafe, where sunsets are experienced with an ice cold jumbo beer! There are 5 islets in the north, outside of Grand Baie; Serpent Island, Round Island, Flat Island, Gabriel Island and Coin de Mire Island. All are uninhabited, except for sea birds and other wildlife. Our luxury Nautitech 47 and Dufour Nautitech 435 catamarans, Catdancer I and II will bring you to Gabriel Island for an unforgettable Cruising Experience. Both catamarans have 4 double cabins, 4 baths and among the nicest living room on sea.
