Orchid Country Club’s (OCC) sprawling 100-hectare grounds is home to three clubhouses, a top rate golf course, as well as a wonderland of social, recreational and entertainment facilities. Considered one of the most breathtaking golf courses in the region, the 27-hole international championship course was designed under the watch of Singapore’s former President, the late Mr Ong Teng Cheong. Its rollcall of accolades include ‘Top 3 Best Golf Courses’ in Singapore by Asian Golf Monthly last year. Since 2010, the Club has been chosen to play host to the inaugural Handa Singapore Classic sanctioned by Asian Tour and Singapore PGA.
Naturally, the different courses are named after orchids – the Aranda, Vanda and Dendro – and features acres of immaculately manicured fairways and greens. Tee-off on a gentle rolling hill, conquer the strategically-placed bunkers and drive a shot along the glassy waterways during your game. This is also one of the few golf courses in Singapore that offer golfing at night so players can take to the greens after a long day at work.
The 9-hole Aranda Course (Par 36, 3,125m - blue tee) features wide fairways and undulating greens. Accuracy is imperative at the Vanda Course (Par 36, 3,043m - blue tee) because despite being the shortest of the three courses, manoeuvring around the many water hazards will prove to be a challenge. The Dendro Course (Par 37, 3197m - blue tee) is the longest of the three 9-hole courses and also has one of the longest Par 5 (3rd hole, 590m) in Singapore. Both accuracy and power are needed to tackle the complex hole as the tee-shot requires a carry of 180m across a pond to a narrow fairway protected by fairway sand traps.
Complementing the courses is a 160-bay driving range, one of the biggest in Southeast Asia. It features a state-of-the-art ball automatic tee-up system activated by smart card, and two levels with 80 computerised tees at the sheltered lower level and 80 manual tees on the upper tier.
