African Romance deals with the need for local beneficiation of the continent’s raw precious minerals and metals into diamonds and fine jewellery.
In a short period of three years, African Romance has become iconic in representing the entire diamond and jewellery value chain, and is the only company of its kind on the continent. Rough diamonds are purchased locally from 100% conflict free and accountable entities and are polished by South Africans into some of the world’s best diamonds. There is no technology anywhere in the world that does not exist at our facility in Sandton. We have trained South Africans in every aspect of the polishing of GIA certified excellent cut grade diamonds. Our staff are 94% black and 41% are women. We have trained the first black women in the world in how to utilise a Bettonville laser saw. Over 60% of our diamonds are now certified as GIA excellent cut grades, one of the highest excellent cut grade production ratios in the world.

Diamond Tours are offered at African Romance’s HQ, where clients can witness how diamonds are cut and polished, touch rough diamonds, view natural coloured diamonds and visit the bespoke Design Centre where our designers utilise local cultural, art and traditional influences to design some of the finest jewellery in the world, with a distinct African flavour and a true connection to our African Heritage.
The African Romance Brand is ready for retail expansion and will move into its second level growth with the role-out of unique and distinctly African diamond and jewellery stores.
The Gautrain Hotel is home to the first new look African Romance retail stores, followed by Rosebank Mall. The African Romance HQ store in Sandton has proven to be a huge success with growth of revenue far beyond expectations. During the recession year, company revenues grew over 250%, indicating the need for a true African Luxury Brand in the luxury goods market.
