Zouk

Zouk, Singapore

The Village Party

Longer than some of its party people have been alive, Zouk has been attracting a beautiful crowd since 1991. It remains the longest running club in Singapore, and has since grown internationally as one of the top clubs in the world. Endorsed by many club critics both local and international, the awardwinning club is easily one of the best in the world. The accolades are endless – the megaclub snagged a prime spot in the ‘Top 100 Clubs of the Year’ awards in DJ Magazine (UK), and was voted ‘All Time Favourite Bar/Club’ in the Readers’ Choice Award a staggering 13 times by I-S Magazine in Singapore.

Zouk won the Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) ‘Best Nightspot Experience’ and ‘Customer Service Award’ for two consecutive years, as well as ‘Nightspot of the Year Award’ a record-breaking eight times. It also clinched STB’s ‘Best Leisure Experience Award’ in 2007. The latter, especially, is a true testament to Zouk’s dominance in Singapore’s entertainment scene.

The Magic Formula

After more than two decades in the business, Zouk continues to hold her own as one of the best clubs in the world thanks to a magic formula comprising a loyal following of clubbers, tourists who have been told there’s no better place to party, international hotshot DJs helming the decks weekly, a focus on service excellence and ensuring an entire unique visual and audio party experience each time. Collectively, it’s an award-winning concept that has yet to be trumped.

Among Zouk’s more prolific fans are superstar DJs Sasha, Tiësto, and Erol Alkan who all sing praises for what is surely Asia’s best club. The thumbs up from these experts of sound also remind us that Zouk’s sound system is as impressive as everything else in it: world-class.

Meanwhile, Zouk’s own resident DJs impress internationally as well. While Zouk is regularly home to a stellar line-up of DJs from across the globe, Singapore’s best local DJs like Eclipse, Jeremy Boon and djB have made a name for themselves in party centrals Ibiza, Barcelona, Berlin and Miami.

The Zouk Vibe

True to its name which means “village party” in Creole, Zouk is housed in a former warehouse and boasts different conceptual clubs within its sprawling complex to cater to its wide clientele. Featuring original art by Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Takashi Murakami, Romero Britto and Frank Stella, Velvet Underground is the most artistic of the four outlets, providing a sophisticated alternate experience with its classy, laidback ambience. Wine Bar offers a pre party experience – a perfect way to kick-start a big night out at Zouk’s main club. A club within a club, Phuture features an impressive LED wall and is a cool alternative to Zouk for the younger crowd who enjoy hip hop and R&B.

ZoukOut

Having evolved into an entire subculture of its own, the dance tribe of Zouk eagerly anticipates the annual ZoukOut festival. Making waves internationally since 2000, ZoukOut was created to bring the spirit of Zouk to the outdoors, and to an even greater crowd with its signature sound style of Trance, Techno, Progressive, Hip Hop and of course, some Mambo Jambo jams. Amongst its revellers have been top DJs Tiësto, David Guetta and Armin van Buuren who applaud the island’s party of the year.

With all the winning features that make Zouk so legendary, its real spirit lies in each clubber’s personal experience there. At Zouk, it’s all about people; dedicated staff and the open-minded, passionate crowd on the dancefloor help make magic each and every night. It is this magic that keeps everyone coming back for more – the magic that completes Zouk’s philosophy: “One World, One Music, One Tribe, One Dance”.
